1. Welcome Notes
I participated in a weekend experience called Temenos this
weekend. The word Temenos is an ancient Greek word which
described a place where warriors could go to lay down their
arms and their armor and be safe. Temenos as it happens now
is a workshop which creates a safe place and community for
people to lay down their judgments — both of themselves and
others — and support one another in letting go of what gets in
the way of having the life they truly want. It is an incredibly
nurturing, supportive, community-strengthening, success-
creating experience.
Also exhausting. I participate as a graduate every 6 months,
and normally Temenos Monday is simply a Monday without
Celebrating the Journey.
This morning, however, I decided to gift you with some of my
favorite quotes. Then I received 2 e-mails, back-to-back, which
contained a message I can’t resist passing along.
Welcome to our new subscribers. This is an unusual format
for Celebrating the Journey. Welcome to the family and enjoy
the feast.

2. Make It A Great Day
The first e-mail was from Irene Morris, a friend with whom I
share e-mails on a regular basis. It read, simply, “Good
morning, Margo. Have a great day.” It brought a smile to my
heart and was a delightful way to begin my day. It is a phrase I
use and hear frequently.
The second e-mail was from my great friend Rachelle
Disbennett-Lee. Rachelle is a gifted coach with a website at
http://www.coachlee.com. I encourage you to visit her
website and play the Values Game. You’ll discover some new
things about yourself! Rachelle puts a bit of a different spin on
the ‘great day’ concept.
Make it a great day!
Instead of telling people to have a great day, I always
suggest that they make it a great day. We all have choices;
life is a combination of all the choices we have ever made.
We can either choose to create great days in our lives or
do something else. It is truly up to us.
Coaching:
So, make it a great day. Choose to create your day to be
the way you want it to be. And remember, sometimes the only
choice you might have is the attitude you choose to have.
However that can make the difference between making it a
great day and making it something else.

Yes, I used an article of Rachelle’s last week in Celebrating the
Journey. I am a member of Rachelle’s fan club, and it is also
not my intention to have CTJ become a the Rachelle Show.
This week, however, the two e-mails contained a message that
demanded to be passed along.
Having a great day is a wonderful thing. Knowing that we can
make it a great day, no matter what the day looks like is even
more wonderful.
Make today a great day!

Once, when Denys and I had been up, and were landing
on the plain of the farm, a very old Kikuyu came up and
talked to us:
“You were up very high today,” he said, “we could not
see you, only hear the aeroplane like a bee.”
I agreed that we had been up high.
“Did you see God?” he asked.
“No, Ndwetti,” I said, we did not see God.”
“Aha, then you were not up high enough,” he said,
“but now tell me: do you think that you will be able to get up
high enough to see him?”
“I do not know, Ndwetti,” I said.
“And you, Behdar,” he said turning to Denys, “what do
you think? Will you get up high enough in your aeroplane to
see God?”
“Really, I do not know,” said Denys.
“Then,” said Ndwetti, “I do not know at all why you
two go on flying.”
