1. Welcome Notes

I want to welcome our new subscribers. We had a
higher number than usual this week so thank you to
all of you who forwarded CTJ to people in your
virtual community. I ask that you share this issue as
well so that our family can continue to grow and
flourish.

You may have noticed that this issue of CTJ is a day
late – or you may not have noticed!. I returned
yesterday from a marvelous visit with family and
friends on the East Coast, and the travel created a bit
of havoc in my virtual office. There’s a lesson in there
somewhere! I hope the information in this issue loses
no value for you in its lateness.

Last week’s request for ideas for topics for CTJ had
some great responses which will appear in issues to
come. So I’m asking for more ideas. The chances are
that topics that interest you interest many others as
well. What gets in the way of having the life you
REALLY want? What subjects would you like to see
in CTJ? Send an email to
mailto:topics@tothesummit.com with thoughts on
what you’d like to see here.

And remember that celebration has a powerful
impact on all involved. I believe strongly that what
we celebrate in our lives multiplies when we share it
with others. Share your celebration, big or small,
“important” or “trivial”, loud or soft with our CTJ
family by e-mailing
mailto:celebrations@tothesummit.com. It’s a simple
way to increase your own joy and give many others
the gift of that same joy. Celebrate Out Loud!

2. Whose “All” Is It Anyway?

The idea that “having it all” will make us fulfilled and
satisfied human beings has been ingraining itself in
our culture for a good number of years. It started
with the feminist movement and spread quickly to
permeate much of our society. I believe it is one of
the biggest sources of stress and dissatisfaction in our
culture today.

We have created the belief that there is something
wrong with us if we don’t “have it all,” and that belief is
producing a generation of people who spend their
lives frenetically hurrying like crazy to acquire what
some mythical Oz-like entity has defined as “it all.”

It’s a fallacy to think we can have and do “it all” and
still maintain any sense of sanity and quality of life.
We lose touch with what is really important to us in
the frenzied pursuit of what someone else has defined
a “it all.” To some degree we lose touch with our
very souls. So do we just give up? Not at all.”
The truth is we can “have it all.î We just need to
redefine “all.”

~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=”=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~
3. What Is YOUR “Allî?

What really matters to you? What do you truly
value? When you let go of what your parents told
you, what you read in “Cosmo,” what your
neighbors’ lives look like, where you think you
“should” be, what you’re “supposed” to have
accomplished, how do you envision your life?

I recently gave one of my coaching clients the
assignment of creating a detailed, specific vision of
how she wanted her life to be in five years. It was one
of the most difficult things she had ever done.

Why? Because no one, including her, had ever given
her permission to create her own life.

Her vision didn’t look like she thought it was
supposed to. So she thought it was wrong. Her vision
contained pieces she didn’t think she deserved. So she
thought it was wrong. Her vision wasn’t about doing,
it was about being. So she thought it was wrong. It
was simple. So she thought it was wrong. But it made
her whole being want to celebrate.

And she knew it was right.

Her “all” is much less than she thought it was and
also much more. It is less doing and more being; less
accomplishment and more connection; less house and
more community; less money and more serenity; less
high tech and more high spirituality.

What is YOUR all? This week I give you permission to
create your own life, the way your heart and soul
want it to be. Beyond giving you permission, I’m
making it a request. Take the time to create a detailed,
specific in-color vision of how YOU want your like to
be five years from now.

This process begins with an examination, from the
heart, of what your values truly are and moves into
letting your heart create the vision, rather than your
mind.1 Ask yourself the questions that really matter.

What will bring you peace?
What will bring you contentment?
What does your house look like?
Who will be your friends?
What colors will be around you?
Where will the house be?
Who will be living in it?
What activities will you be doing?
Will you be working? At what?

You get the idea. Paint a picture. It may be in words
r crayons or paints or music or poetry or acrylics. It
may be minutely detailed or more general. My
experience is, the more detailed the better. How do
you want your life to be?

Here’s your chance to do it just for you.

And in that vision will be your “all.” YOUR “all.”

And once you have that, each day becomes a part of
the journey of that “all.” Each day becomes “all” in
itself as you move into your vision. Create your
vision and allow your “all” to become reality.
