1. Welcome Notes

I keep a Sark daily calendar on my home office desk. This
morning it says, “Permission to be crabby.” I believe that
occasional crabbiness increases our capacity for joy and
laughter. And when we let our loved ones know we are
going to be crabby for a while, our choice doesn’t harm
them in any way. Perhaps your mini vacation will have
some crabbiness thrown in with the joy and laughter.
Whatever it looks like — enjoy it!

The CTJ family is once again above the 1,100 number. I
appreciate your sending it to folks you care about. Just
click the “Forward” button to send a mini vacation to
someone you love. They’ll thank you for it.

What are you celebrating this week? A birthday, an
anniversary, a new job, a promotion? Did you clean the
garage, set a new boundary, remember Aunt Gertrude’s
birthday, have an ah-ha? Share it with us. Let us shower
you with virtual balloons and confetti. All the fun and no
mess to clean up! Send an email with your celebration to
mailto:celebrations@tothesummit.com.

A quick reminder that the 2nd of three Boundaries
Teleclasses takes place this morning at 10 am EST (9
Central, 8 Mountain, 7 Pacific). Missed last week? Join us
anyway by calling 702-565-8327. Set the stage for your mini
vacation. Learn how to set healthy boundaries to give
yourself the space for all the joy and laughter that lives in
your heart.

2. A Joy and Laughter Mini Vacation

You who read this e-zine are on a journey of discovering
what your dreams are; of having success, freedom and joy
in all areas of your life; of becoming the person you truly
are. There are huge rewards and gifts to this work. And it
requires energy, focus, commitment and discipline.

Some days we need to take a vacation. A vacation from
reading books on success, listening to tapes on financial
freedom, journaling to learn what our resistance is to
taking really good care of ourselves. Some days it’s time to
read a light hearted novel with “no redeeming social
qualities”, listen to a CD of music simply because of the
joy it gives you, journal only if you feel like it. Sometimes
the best way to “work on ourselves” is not to!

Today is one of those days. Today I offer you humor,
giggles, joy and laughter. Enjoy!

4. Quotes

Joy is the feeling of grinning on the inside.
Dr. Melba Colgrove

Among those whom I like or admire, I can find no
common denominator. But among those whom I love, I
can: all of them make me laugh.
W. H. Auden

He who laughs, lasts.
Mary Pettibone Poole

If you can’t make it better, you can laugh at it.
Erma Bombeck

Such is human psychology that if we don’t express our
joy, we soon cease to feel it.
Lin Yutang

We are all here for a spell, get all the good laughs you can.
Will Rogers

Laughter is the closest thing to the grace of God.
Karl Barth

Laughter can be more satisfying than honor; more
precious than money; more heart-cleansing than prayer.
Harriet Rochlin

The earth laughs in flowers.
e.e. cummings

5. Humor: Kids’ Answers to Love and Marriage

Questions on love and marriage answered by elementary
school students. Thanks, once again, to my friend and co-
worker Stephanie Perrin for passing these along.

HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHO TO MARRY?

You got to find somebody who likes the same stuff. Like, if
you like sports, she should like it that you like sports, and
she should keep the chips and dip coming.
Alan, age 10

No person really decides before they grow up who they’re
going to marry. God decides it all way before, and you get
to find out later — who you’re stuck with.
Kirsten, age 10

WHAT IS THE RIGHT AGE TO GET MARRIED?

Twenty-three is the best age because you know the person
FOREVER by then.
Camille, age 10

No age is good to get married at. You got to be a fool to get
married.
Freddie, age 6

HOW CAN A STRANGER TELL IF TWO PEOPLE ARE
MARRIED?

You might have to guess, based on whether they seem to
be yelling at the same kids.
Derrick, age 8

WHAT DO YOU THINK YOUR MOM AND DAD HAVE
IN COMMON?

Both don’t want any more kids.
Lori, age 8

WHAT DO MOST PEOPLE DO ON A DATE?

Dates are for having fun, and people should use them to
get to know each other. Even boys have something to say
if you listen long enough.
Lynette, age 8

On the first date, they just tell each other lies, and that
usually gets them interested enough to go for a second
date.
Martin, age 10

WHAT WOULD YOU DO ON A FIRST DATE THAT
WAS TURNING SOUR??

I’d run home and play dead. The next day I would call all
the newspapers and make sure they wrote about me in all
the dead columns.
Craig, age 9

WHEN IS IT OKAY TO KISS SOMEONE???

When they’re rich.
Pam, age 7

The law says you have to be eighteen, so I wouldn’t want
to mess with that.
Curt, age 7

The rule goes like this: If you kiss someone, then you
should marry them and have kids with them. It’s the
right thing to do.
Howard, age 8

IS IT BETTER TO BE SINGLE OR MARRIED?

It’s better for girls to be single but not for boys. Boys need
someone to clean up after them.
Anita, age 9

HOW WOULD THE WORLD BE DIFFERENT IF PEOPLE
DIDN’T GET MARRIED?

There sure would be a lot of kids to explain, wouldn’t
there?
Kelvin, age 8

HOW WOULD YOU MAKE A MARRIAGE WORK?

Tell your wife that she looks pretty even if she looks like a
truck.
Ricky, age 10

6. Celebrating Out Loud

February 17: Joan celebrated 17 years of sobriety, a true
celebration of life. mailto:joanclimb@psnw.com

February 20: My dear friend Judy celebrates 22 years of
sobriety. She is a gift to all who know her, especially me.
mailto:reevescomm@earthlink.net

I celebrate the enormous gift of watching three deer paw
through the snow to feed in the moonlight, six feet away
from where I soaked peacefully in my hot tub.

E-mail your birthday, anniversary, accomplishment, shift ,
ah-ha or joyful moment to
mailto:celebration@tothesummit.com. Let us know what
great stuff is happening in your life!

Know someone who’s celebrating a great occasion? Or a
small one? What better gift than to forward them a copy
of Celebrating the Journey with a celebratory wish in it.
Let’s spread the joy!
